My Review on Nelson Mandela’s A Long Walk to Freedom
My main idea about the story was the whole growing up part. I loved the book it really was a great book.
A Long walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela taught me a lot. He started writing this book when he was in prison and finished when he got out. The book is not depicting a pain point but at the same time many can relate. Yes the time in history is when apartheid had started growing. He wrote this book to explain about his life and explain the trails he went through and overcame. We can learn that we had t way better than they did back then we can actually appreciate everything we have from reading this book.
The story is about the life Nelson Mandela a man that faced many great things. He went through more than any of us could possibly imagine. The plot is to reach out to many people and tell them how the African society was treated back then. His life was monumentus and could teach us a lot of different things. The passion he had to want to change something is the passion we want.
The language in the book is evocative because he speaks more than one language so the book has African names and African places in the book. The book is written in first person point of view because he wrote it about his life. The book is a narrative because he writes about the stuff that happened in his life. Yes, this story starts from when he was a little kid until he was an adult almost every second and every minute. Mandela uses a lot of different literary devices to catch the reader’s attention and make the reader stay intrigued throughout the whole thing.
I really think that I relate to Nelson Mandela in some ways. I feel some of the things he wrote about like he was actually talking to me through him. Some of the main characters like Justice, Nelson, and Jongtiba were all good people. The character I disliked was Dr. Wellington because he abused his authority toward the college students and made them feel like they were not adults but just teens.
Some of the points he had in the book hit home in some ways better than none. Nelson Mandela and I had so much in common I didn’t know about. I would recommend this book to many people, because I feel like many people would read this book and want to make a major change. The main thing I would change about the book is the length of it and make it short but still fulfilling. I would also change the look even though it had vibrant colors I would’ve added a little more detail to the cover and the book. My main idea of the story was him growing up and becoming a man. I loved the book it was really great and teaches you a lot.
